Building Our Safeguards
“So above all, guard the affections of your heart,
for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare
of your innermost being, for from there
flows the wellspring of life.” ~Proverbs 4:23
Building our pillars and support on a life rooted in Christ is a beautiful life, attractive to all. The joy we carry, the love we have, and the light we carry will attract people from all walks of life. Some will be attracted for good, while others are on assignments from Satan to steal, kill, and destroy. Assignments that will pretend to be your friend, significant other, etc., to get close to you, get inside your “home,” and bring destruction from the inside out.
Destruction with the goal of stopping your Godly assignment over your life, stopping you from loving those around you well, and stopping you from birthing God-fearing and God-loving children, both naturally and spiritually. What you carry can birth something for either the Kingdom of Light or the Kingdom of Darkness for generations. It sounds crazy, but it’s true.
Think about the saints before us. What did they do that happened a few lifetimes before we were even born? That’s the power of destiny when stewarded right.
What is inside our walls is the most secret real estate in our lives. From what’s there determines how we act, what we do, and our relationship with God and others. So, we need walls around our lives, our hearts, our emotions, and our thoughts to protect what’s inside.
We need healthy walls as a barrier, with God as the Director, helping us discern who can have what level of access that would be best for us. Sometimes, the person could be a great person, but maybe not the best person to be in your home, in your inner world.
The privacy and safety of healthy walls will create a peace that surpasses all understanding in your thought life, in your relationships, and even in the boldness and trust in God that it takes to fulfill whatever destiny He has prewritten before the foundations of the earth.
So, seek God’s face and wisdom to determine who can spend time with you on the street, the front porch, or inside the many rooms of your inner life.
You are special, you are lovable, and it’s good for you to figure out what God wants your walls to look like. When you don’t take the time with God to do the hard work, you create unnecessary pain and hurt that could have been avoided. You might be so hurt that it could potentially give you a life that God never desired for you. It could cause a wound that could last for generations.
Even Jesus was protective of who He spent alone time with. He loved everyone, but He only spent alone time with “a few.”
With a surrendered heart, grab a box of tissues, find your special space with Papa, and ask Him some tough questions about what your walls should look like and who has access to the inside of your soul.
I know it’s scary, but take the chance with the Creator of the universe. He is waiting and wants to show you.
So, ask Him: Who has access to you? Who should and who should not? Who is influencing you for the bad? Who is helping you grow deeper in love with God? Who is helping you grow as a person overall? Who is not God’s best to have in your life?
Dig deep with Papa and find out what He has to say. He loves you, knows you best, and is the perfect Father who is just waiting to help you.
Go ahead and let the journey begin of letting God build your walls, so you can truly have safety and protection around your soul.
With Love,

Scriptures to Meditate On
“Do not be misled: “Bad company
corrupts good character.”
~1 Corinthians 15:33
“The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.”
~Psalms 121:7-8
“Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness,
who lives in you? You don’t belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God,
the Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary. You were God’s expensive purchase,
paid for with tears of blood…” ~1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Like a city that is broken down and without walls [leaving it unprotected]
Is a man who has no self-control over his spirit
[and sets himself up for trouble].”
~Proverbs 25:28
Read & Declare Over Yourself
I declare that I will guard my heart, because what I carry matters.
I will seek God for wisdom and discernment about who has access to my life, my heart, and my inner world. I will love people well without giving everyone the same level of access.
I will build healthy walls—not walls of rejection, but walls of wisdom, discernment, and stewardship. I will protect what God is growing in me and refuse to give fear, bitterness, offense, or the wrong influences a place to take root.
I declare that I will steward what God has placed inside of me with intention, knowing that what I carry can impact generations.
I guard my heart.
I guard my peace.
I guard my assignment.
I guard what God has entrusted to me.
Above all else, I will guard my heart, because everything I do flows from it.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
