The Light & Power Within

“Jesus answered, “If you drink from Jacob’s well, you’ll be thirsty again, but if anyone drinks the living water I give them, they will never be thirsty again. For when you drink the water I give you, it becomes a gushing fountain of the Holy Spirit, flooding you with endless life!” ~John 4:13-14

When examining our houses, we find hidden plumbing and electrical wiring inside the walls and floors that supply our water and power. Without running water and electricity, life becomes much darker and harder to navigate. If you are reading this, most likely, you live in a comfortable house or apartment with running water and electricity flowing throughout your space.

Now, close your eyes and really imagine having no heat, no air conditioning, no lights, and no running water. Imagine having to go outside to use the bathroom, walk miles to find clean water, and rely solely on the sun for light, with no phone, no internet, and none of the comforts of the Western world. Sit with that and really imagine it.

Now open your eyes and ask the Holy Spirit if the inside of your house—your altar, your soul—is filled with light. Is the light shining brightly, or is it beginning to dim? Are you feeling lonely and looking for ways to numb those feelings? Do you wake up and reach for social media and other distractions before reaching for God? Are you spending less and less time in prayer, worship, and quality time with God?

These are questions we all need to ask the One who knows us best, and we need to ask them often. Really go there and ask the Holy Spirit to show you. Be willing to examine your feelings. How are you really feeling? How is your relationship with God? Are you filled with power and light? Are you hydrated? Are you feeling drained, thirsty, and low in fire? Do you feel the power of God when you pray? Are you moved by His presence when you spend time in His Word and worship?

If your answer is yes, and you feel the light and power inside you beginning to dim, even just a little, go to an isolated place, wherever that may be, and ask, pray, and see what He shows you. Be unafraid to ask, and be even more unafraid to listen and do what He is asking you to do. Pray in words, pray in tongues, say whatever naturally comes out. Let the tears fall. Let the anger out. Let whatever is inside that needs to come out, come out.

He sees you. He knows you. And He is waiting for you with open arms and unconditional love.

He is waiting at the well—a well that never dries up. His love is refreshing every day, every minute that you seek Him as your source. Your Father is waiting, and He loves you too much to leave you with your lights dimming.

With Love,

Scriptures to Meditate On

“Now on the last and most important day of the feast,

Jesus stood and called out [in a loud voice],

“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink!

He who believes in Me

[who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Me],

as the Scripture has said,

‘From his innermost being will flow

continually rivers of living water.’ ” [Is 58:11; John 4:14]

But He was speaking of the [Holy] Spirit, whom those

who believed in Him [as Savior]

were to receive afterward.

The Spirit had not yet been given, because

Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor).”

~John 7:37-39

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

whose trust is the Lord.

He is like a tree planted by water,

that sends out its roots by the stream, and

does not fear when heat comes,

for its leaves remain green, and

is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not

cease to bear fruit.”

~Jeremiah 17:7-8

“Remain in Me, and I [will remain] in you.

Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself

without remaining in the vine, neither can you

[bear fruit, producing evidence of your faith]

unless you remain in Me.

I am the Vine; you are the branches.

The one who remains in Me and

I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me

[that is, cut off from vital union with Me]

you can do nothing.”

~John 15:4-5

“You will make known to me the path of life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand

there are pleasures forever.” ~Psalms 16:11

“Let your light so shine before men,

that they may see your good works and

glorify your Father in heaven.”

~Matthew 5:16

Read & Declare Over Yourself

Today, I declare that my soul will not run dry.

I will not look to temporary things,

distractions, or the world to satisfy

what only Adonai can fill.

I choose Yeshua as my source,

the Living Water that never runs out.

Holy Spirit, search my heart and reveal every place

that has become dry, weary, or

disconnected from You.

Restore my hunger for Your presence.

Refresh my spirit, renew my heart, and keep

the fire on my altar burning.

As I drink from the Living Water,

let it become a fountain within me,

overflowing with Your presence and

flooding every area of my life

with Your endless life. I will not settle

for temporary wells

when I have access to an everlasting source.

My light will not grow dim,

my soul will not run dry, and

my spirit will overflow. I am continually

refreshed by the Living Water, and

His life flows within me and through me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
